Your new role

As Associate Legal Counsel, you will be required to provide legal support to the investment and support units to safeguard the interests of the organisation.

As an investment fund lawyer, you will be responsible, but not limited to, offering professional legal advice in relation to investment funds, to include comingled funds, co-investments, and single investment funds. In this role, you will help lead, supervise and manage the provision of all legal services under the supervision of the Associate General Counsel.

Responsibilities

• Advising on all legal aspects of asset management relations which includes but is not limited to comingled funds, co-investments, and single investment funds
• Advising on all legal aspects of business projects, coordinating with internal investment and wider business teams and internal stakeholders and external legal counsel to help achieve results in a budget-friendly, timely and commercial manner
• Ensure that business operations and activities conform with the applicable local and international laws and reporting material legal issues to the senior management team
• Reviewing and ensuring quality control of legal documents and advising relevant signatories and senior management on the content
• Reviewing, advising, and negotiating investments relating to comingled funds, co-investments, and single investment funds
• Liaising and interacting with internal stakeholders and external parties to include asset managers, external counsel, public authorities etc and creating strong business relationships
• Analysing legal issues and providing sound judgement for the business while evaluating business imperatives over legal risk
• Maintaining comprehensive and up-to-date legal records
• Promoting awareness of changes in law and regulation which will impact business operations
• Performing any ad-hoc tasks and providing clarification on legal terminology or specifications as required by the GC and wider organisation

What you'll need to succeed

• At least 4 years of experience including experience at a reputable financial institution, private family office or a law firm
• Previous work experience in a global financial hub, demonstrating a successful track record in delivering legal support for investors in private fund structures (Private Equity, Venture Capital, Infrastructure, Real Estate, Credit Funds and Co-Investments)
• Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised/reputable university in law and a track record of academic excellence
• Sound knowledge of investment funds and general corporate commercial matters and knowledge of some of the following areas is desirable: private equity, real estate, infrastructure, fund management, fixed income and equity investments, M&A, project management, regulatory compliance and tax and corporate administration
• Experience managing a high volume of high-value deals
• Excellent English language written and speaking skills. Additional languages are desirable
